If you are Bollywood or cricket fans, you may have noticed that your Instagram feed has been clogged up with various posts and reposts of this celebrity wedding.
Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma and international cricketer Virat Kohli recently got married in an intimate and private Hindu ceremony in Tuscany, Italy. The couple who have been in together since 2014 were stringent not to let the media and public know of their forthcoming nuptials and the couple hosted three functions at the heritage hotel Borgo Finocchieto
Here’s a low down of what the bride wore and what we thought…
For her engagement Anushka dressed in a Sabyasachi velvet saree. It is bang on trend for the autumn/ winter collections in the signature Sabyasachi Gulkand Burgundy. Embellished in hand-embroidered miniature pearls, Zardosi and Marori
Elegance personified. There is nothing more elegant then a saree. And in our opinion not enough brides opt for this most traditional of attires…
…and the finishing with the red roses… drool… and the now iconic micro dot bindi was just stunning!
Sabyasachi says Anushka wanted a boho look full of bright colours. Hot pink was her favourite. The Sabyasachi team created a graphic lehenga in fuchsia pink and Indian orange. It was hand-printed by the famed Calcutta block printers and hand-embroidered with gota and marori. Artists from The Sabyasachi Art Foundation rendered a beautiful sixties pop print and it was silk screen printed, hand woven Indian silk.
Anushka accessorised herself with earrings from the Sabyasachi Heritage Jewellery collection, a stunning pair of jhumkas crafted in 22k gold with Iranian turquoise, tourmalines, uncut diamonds and Japanese cultured pearls.
We loved the easiness of this look and not something you would expect from Sabyasachi as a designer whom we associate with a traditional Indian aesthetic. This look is in keeping with the location of the wedding and we adore the colour splash. It is fun, fresh and very appropriate for a mendhi event.

In case you are interested Virat opted for a signature khadi kurta churidaar with a classic fuchsia pink textured silk Nehru jacket detailed with the Sabyasachi House blazer buttons. A custom tan leather jutti with a zardosi crest was created for the ensemble.
As was the theme of this wedding, both Virat and Anushka, on their wedding day, were dressed in coordinated outfits also designed by Sabyasachi Mukherjee.
Anushka looked sublime in a pale pink bridal lengha with renaissance embroidery in vintage English colours embellished with silver-gold metal thread, pearls and beads.
The bridal jewellery handcrafted with syndicate uncut diamonds, pale pink spinel and baroque Japanese cultured pearls by the Sabyasachi Heritage Jewellery collection.
The archetypal Sabyasachi bride with the full double layer choker and necklace with a classic mathapatti headpiece so synonymous with his true brides.
We also loved the choice of colour which we predicted a while back to be the trend for the 2018 bride. No doubt, made more so popular now that Anushka has adorned it so well.
She looked so beautiful… and she looked beautiful at every function.
She looked comfortable and at ease and that was what made her the most stunning bride. Her choice of make up complemented her looks perfectly without making her look caked up. She played down her makeup and let her decadent outfits and jewellery take charge. Simply stunning work from make up artisit, Puneet B Saini and hairstylist Gabriel Georgiou.
It was great to see something unexpected from Sabyasachi with the Mehendhi outfit and shows that he is more than just that bridal lengha designer that he has come to be known for.
We predict that this bridal look from Anushka will be inspiration for many 2018 brides and we at Red Dot Jewels are ready and waiting. This look will be one for those who are looking for an understated elegance where the natural self is the key statement. It wasn’t showy or over the top it was everything a classic bride should be and a look that can be recreated by us mere mortals.
